Friday in fanciful Florida

Had a full day yesterday. Every morning is great with little PIP-squeaks, like "ooh" "aw" "eee" in place of words as he points to what he is trying to say. It is a melody of delightful proportions.

Went to The Moffitt Cancer Center Awareness luncheon at the Ritz. Cancer touches every family. Including my grandma and my mom. It's always a mostly super girly event as if people watching is its own amusement park. The food is always fabulous. Always a bit unpredictable and always delicious with presentations ala panache! It is an interesting luncheon, as the 'entertainment' is a fascinating talk about the cutting edge of cancer treatments for women. So, I got 'eye candy', 'palate pleasers', and brain food all in one! Such a New York deal.

I was high bidder for a cool surprise for my son's 30th birthday- Tickets to Fashion Week, 2012. Shhh.
This way, I'll know if he is following me. I was a guest yesterday, and it is my pleasure to give back... in the way of my heart for my dear Grandma Rossmoore and my beautiful mom... doing it also as a treat for their great grand-son, and favorite grand-son. It is a perfect circle of life and makes it even more meaningful.

Have a magical friday.

Dining on Dogs with Foie Gras & Truffle Oil

I have always been attracted and drawn to all things new and original. In design. In gadgets. In watches. And in food flavor combinations. Funky is grand. And so it was with last evening's repast with a group of middle aged women, I call "The Bevy". Some in our group refer to it as "The Bevy of Beauties". Since, I am a believer in truth in advertising, I rather prefer "The Bevy of Broads." The requirement for admission is: A silly, sometimes sick- sense of humor.

A Tuesday Topper

Got a call from my father yesterday evening. I thought it was to confirm lunch for Wednesday. I answered the phone with "Yep, we've got a date tomorrow." To which I heard "no we don't." My 90 year old dad..... who just two months ago: broke his hip- called to tell me he was in the emergency room at Lakewood Ranch.  It seems that he wanted to surprise his girlfriend with a very cleaned and organized garage and in an attempt to reach that goal: he was trying to move his TREADMILL! His treadmill! It fell on him. It moved. But not where he had visualized.

When I got to the emergency room, I wagged my finger at him and said "What do you think you were doing, acting like an 85 year old!"

He got lots of meds.... and is supposed to relax and enjoy them.

I love the circle of life. Started my day with little "Pip-steps" of my 18 month old grandson..... and ended it up with my 90 year old dad. Life is just like that.

Happy Wednesday

Still, a dull-normal sextagenarian blogger

I woke up this morning....and heart little "ooh" and "awh" of baby Pip. He is so darling to watch. It is like little sparkles of fairy dust in the morning being sprinkled in my life.

I have been being asked about finding the BLOG. It again.... took me hours. But, I am educable, which is dandy since I have a Masters in Education. It means: hope abounds! Perhaps before I start collecting medicare, I'll be as quick at this as my now 18 month old Pip will be.

For the past 7 weeks, I have thrown out gobs and cleared up my home: trying to keep my mind focused and without distraction. This is a new season and a new style for me. Aging might have its rewards, inducing us to lead a more simplified life.  I was going to use this clean space to go back to my manuscript- "Good Mourning". I wanted to enter a contest for Pacific Northwest Writers Conference. They asked for the first 28 pages of the manuscript- from which the judging is determined. This assignment got me thinking: The BEST 28 pages need to be the FIRST 28 pages. My BEST pages are not the first 28 pages. It builds from the beginning...but unless the FIRST ones are among the BEST, it may never see the light of day.

So, I am thinking of re-organizing the story line. Hmmm. I am too late for the contest: but it may be the excuse I needed to fine tune my manuscript. Which, by the way: was finished until now.

Wish me luck.
Smiles for a great Tuesday. Thanks for following. I need you.

My virgin Blog

Life keeps giving us opportunities to re-invent ourselves. Today.... I sail off to the virgin skies of the blogging keyboard. Little philosophies that pop up like flowers to give us new ways of looking at life.
