Eighteen years ago this evening my daughter Carlyle and I were having our 'mom-daughter' trip. She wanted to go to the Grand Hotel Serbelloni in Bellagio which looms over the town each time we visit by ferry. That was her 9 year old wish, and it was granted. I have an ashtray in my current SOGNO living room as a memory of our trip together in 1995. This evening, it reminds me ..... the first time in years: that this specific evening with my daughter was innocently precious. We were enjoying our adventure as if life would remain constant when we returned, just a 5 minute ferry away to our home in Menaggio. However, 18 years ago tomorrow, my husband died. I am remembering the lightness of the evening... no clouds in the sky and no sign of impending doom.

At any rate, I had another great day on my lake. Got up early, took a shower and organized one bag of photos and pictures which will go into a suitcase for her to take back with her. I now must buy bubble wrap and repack.... but, I enjoyed the time to go through the photos and pictures that were in her room for 17 years at Villa Tognacchini. I went through hundreds: gave away all the frames which I didn't think precious. Keeping many.... and that is what is USA Bound

I got a surprise call for a lunch at my home: pesce persico (perch) by Suzy is my favorite. It is sweet, light and cooked in lots of butter, which is my passion and that was delivered. Had some sepia, which was really good, and soft - not chewy. So, I got my culinary taste buds growing in their influence to appreciate a new 'fishy' tasting food that I hadn't realized could be appetizing. Then, I walked the promenade along the lake, as it is chocker block filled with white tents and another marchettino. These are NICE items and different that is on Friday: so, it was a pure pleasure to see the wares and the lake.

I am beginning on my new manuscript. I have NOT written a word, but I am writing my concept... and creating a framework. It will be another memoir.... but will be centered around one suitcase, taken everywhere for 40+ years and the friends met and lessons learned along the way. Of course, it will be funny.... but hopefully poignant, too.

So, along the thought of "HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU"..... I hope you will have enjoyed your Sunday, too.

smiles,
Judy
