The other day I decided to do a 'little shop'. That is AMERICAN SPEAK for less than a shopping cart worth- not an Italian little shop where you might buy 5 leaves off of a head of lettuce. I had already had the experience of carrying for too much from the grocery back to my home, as it is a 5 minute walk empty handed.... and a long 20 minute walk, weighted down by too many temptations. After having carried 8 heavy plastic bags dangling from my arms: I decided I had learned a lesson. The next time I would take my "cadillac" of shopping carts sold to OLD ITALIAN LADIES with me to the grocery. One lesson learned: I took the cart. Second lesson to learn: don't fill it with a 30 liters of bottles... all filled of course, plus a cauliflower, baked potatos and cleaning supplies. My little cadillac cart carried everything, but it was so heavy, I had to stop at least 15 times...en route home, broke into a sweat, and decided to make two or three trips to the grocer as opposed to ONE BIG one. Hard fought lessons in the realm of trivia, but learned nonetheless.
This morning is not bright and sunny. It is a lovely soft shade of gray, muting any yellow of the sun or blue of the sky and lake. Just as I thought I had a biological clock adjusting to ALERTING ME it is "Friday" as I would see the white tents of the marchetino appear: it is Sunday and I am looking at another marketplace. This little town is trying to confuse me, as I would see today as FRIDAY MARKET day.... but NO: it is Sunday and summer market is on Sunday, too. If they add any more, I will really have a challenging time, setting my watch!
I finished a roll of packing Saran Wrap yesterday and several left-over rolls of packing tape. I created a bag for Carlyle to take back with her: bubble wrapped and saran wrapped treasure of her past. I accomplished the same thing for a Bag that I will take back with me to George, as I will stop in Boston before returning to Sarasota. Both my kids have storage space: and this is all stuff that would go to them.... so, they get to have it NOW. If they want it or NOT. Parenting can be so insistent!
Between packing, and writing... I had a relatively lazy day, going to bed at 9:00am. On an Italian Saturday night- that is when folks are just finishing dinner and going out into the life of the town, my night was a non-event, but perfect.
I am enjoying doing this Blog. It allows me to paint a picture of my multi faceted days with words. I had a minor in fine arts in college- and think visually. As a travel agent, I had to talk visually. Now, I get to think and write visually. I am also fascinated about who would find this blog unless you knew me. I am a Blogging virgin of sorts. So, I am not worldly in this arena. How would someone in Mexico .... find the blog? I will ferret out the answer, but am surprised that my words could reach so far.... and to folks whom I do not know. Tickled, fascinated, humbled, and excited. I am not just talking to my computer screen and myself. It is an interesting world out there in cyber space. It is one I am just beginning to explore
Tiziana, my Italian sister may invite me for a boat ride with some of her clients for a swim in the middle of the lake. I am drawn.... and wanting to dive in. But, my swimming training has taught me never to swim alone. So, if that happens today, there will be a big GRIN on this wet face today. If not: I will keep longing, and savor the wait.
I will of course.... head down to the marcchetino, for a little 'look see' and passagiata. How can you not love life along the lake?
Happy Sunday with smiles, as ever
Judy
